One of those days on a motorcycle

We left out this morning from downtown El Paso, Tx. It was a beautiful day and the deserts were beautiful. Perhaps the last several days of unbelievable mountain scenery and roads had taken its toll on both of us. We lazily eased along and took frequent breaks for coffee and such. It was a great ride but we were ready to put in early tonight. We happened across a beautiful little hotel in Alpine, Texas just North of Big Bend National Park. The Maverick Inn is truly great for our needs tonight. Beautiful Spanish architecture and hospitality like a bed and breakfast we are settled in. As Colette does our laundry I am writing this blog and setting up the Talking Motorcycles radio show with Dana Brown of On Any Sunday…The Next Chapter. Very excited to have Dana on the show. If you would like to tune in this Wednesday nite at 8pm Eastern to hear it live or check it out in the archives anytime after it airs here is a link for you:

Tomorrow we begin the ride to San Antonio where we plan to spend a couple of nights and enjoy the Riverwalk. It is only about 400 miles and we are ready to get it done. I’ve included a few pictures of The Maverick Inn just in case you find yourself in the Big Bend area of West Texas. HIghly recommended place to rest for a nite or two.

maverick3The lobby of the hotel. Fabulous hand carved Indian and lots of great decor in side as well. The lovely Marisa greeted us as soon as we walked in the door tonight. She offered everything we could have asked for on this evening when laundry and rest seemed to be the order of business.

maverick1The door of our room. Love everything about this place.

maverick2The floors are original hardwood and the ceilings are plank wood. The original hotel was built in the late 1800’s and has had a couple of renovations along the way but retains its original charm. Just what we needed to catch up on some things before continuing our adventure headed East eventually to home at Daytona Beach.
